The father of her is Argentine, of Scottish-English descent. Her mother is of Spanish and English descent. Taylor-Joy is the youngest of five children from her father's previous marriage. Family lived at Buenos Aires up until Taylor-Joy was 6 years old, later moving to Victoria district in London. Taylor Joy said the move from Buenos Aires to Victoria was tough as she was unable to study English in hopes of going again to Argentina. Hill House became her school preference after she was forced to change schools. After that, she attended Queen's Gate School and studied ballet and performed in school's plays. After she turned 16, she quit school in order to pursue a full-time career in acting. At a very young age, Taylor-Joy had a dream to be an actor and her dream came true when she was approached for a modeling gig by Sarah Doukas the founder of Storm Management.
